Henry Lee Lucas - Myth of a Serial Killer Synopsis

When drifter Henry Lee Lucas confessed to hundreds of aimless murders in the mid-eighties, it opened one of the most incredible cases in the annals of justice. He provided details of crimes nationwide which led to over 200 murder enquiries. However, independent investigations later suggested that Lucas' claims were bogus and argued that he had been fed information for his confessions by the Texas Rangers. Then another investigation, by the Texas Attorney General, reached the same conclusion leading Lucas to retract all his confessions, claiming that he wanted to expose law enforcement and prove that "they don't do their job". The Rangers maintain that he is in fact a killer and he remains on death row. This examination of the sensational case includes an extensive interview with Lucas, who now maintains his innocence, the Texas Ranger who took his original confession and the reporter who initially broke the story of the hoax.
