Thoughts and Visions of a Severed Head(1991)
Pensées et visions d'une tête coupée
Thoughts and Visions of a Severed Head Synopsis
The theme of death is heavily interwoven in Smolder’s surreal salute to Belgian painter Antoine Wiertz, a Hieronymus Bosch-type artist whose work centered on humans in various stages in torment, as depicted in expansive canvases with gore galore. Smolders has basically taken a standard documentary and chopped it up, using quotes from the long-dead artist, and periodic statements by a historian (Smolders) filling in a few bits of Wiertz’ life.
Thoughts and Visions of a Severed Head (1991) is a documentary and drama film directed by Olivier Smolders, released on January 1, 1991 with a runtime of 26m. It stars Christian Courtois, Alexandre von Sivers, Lémi Cétol and Catherine Aymerie. Viewers rate it 5.2 out of 10 across 5 ratings.
